Botox is a toxin that is produced by a bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum. It is a natural substance, produced with natural techniques in laboratories and transferred in dust form in closed vacuumed sterile bottles being careful to cold chain. Botox toxin blocks release of a substance called acetylcholine that provides impulse transmission, this way impulses cannot be transmitted to muscles and muscle contraction cannot be obtained. Botox is prepared for local
external use; muscles of the injection site are paralyzed and stay flaccid for months. From prevention of sweating to treatment of local spasticity and aesthetic purposes it is used in a variety of different body parts for periodical treatment of different disorders.
What is facial botox application?
Usage of mimic muscles creates wrinkles on skin above them. If timing of these wrinkles are too long and the skin is dry, these wrinkles are shaped much more deeply and can be permanent even without mimical expressions. Different mimical muscles are active on every person when they are laughing or stressed. Therefore deepness and localization of these muscles have different varieties depending on person. Botox is applied for aesthetic purposes on facial area; most common use is for its temporary effect of relaxation on over working mimic muscles resulting with reduce of wrinkles of the skin for a period of time. Mostly applied on forehead, between two eyebrows and periorbital site to reduce the wrinkles of these areas. As a result wrinkles decrease or disappear depending on how deep they are. Eyebrows can be lifted with this procedure if the patient desires.
How is botox applied for aesthetic purposes?
Botox application is a procedure that is made on office conditions. Application of a local anesthetic cream on injection sites are adequate. When patient is semi-sitting position, pre-diluted and prepared botox is injected with fine-tipped injectors on pre-determined dosages to different areas depending on patient’s needs.
How is after phase of botox application?
Cold application is made to injection sites after botox injection. Massage is absolutely forbidden. There can be a temporary mild redness and bruising on injection sites. But there is no problem with covering these with make-up. Patient is called for control based on need. Effective time of botox is 4-6 months depending on patient. The procedure needs to be repeated after this time.
